Printare
Challah (se pronunţă „hala”) este o prăjitură a bucătăriei evreieşti, de fapt un cozonac împletit. Reprezintă felul tradiţional al familiilor care păstrează tradiţia, începând cu vineri seara până sâmbătă. Se prepară cu împletitură triplă sau multiplă. Înainte de copt se poate presăra cu mac ori susan. O reţetă excepţională!

Timp de preparare: 180 minute

Pentru câte bucăţi?:

Ingrediente (pentru 2 buc. de challah)

Pentru aluat:
500 g făină
40 g zahăr
20 g miere
1 ou
30 g drojdie
200 ml apă călduţă
60 g unt
7 g sare

Pentru uns:
1 ou
1 lingură de lapte

Mod de preparare

1. În afară de apă, punem toate ingredientele într-un vas, în aşa fel, încât drojdia să nu intre în contact direct cu sarea. Adăugăm apoi şi apa, după care frământăm bine aluatul.

2. Acoperim apoi aluatul cu un ştergar umed şi lăsăm deoparte aluatul într-un loc cald.

3. Formăm un cilindru gros din aluat pe o suprafaţă presărată cu făină, după care îl împărţim în 6 părţi egale de câte 140 g. Dăm o formă rotundă acestor bucăţi.

4. Din cele 6 forme rotunde, întindem nişte batonaşe de 70 cm lungime, având capetele subţiate.

5. Împletim cei 2 cozonaci. Îi aşezăm apoi pe tăvi acoperite cu hârtie pentru copt, după care, îi învelim cu un ştergar umed şi îi lăsăm la dospit la loc cald timp de 10-15 minute.

6. După ce au crescut, le ungem foarte bine cu amestecul de ou şi lapte, apoi, le băgăm la copt pentru 25-30 minute în cuptorul preîncălzit la 180 C.

Challa nu este o prajitura :) Challa este paine de Shabat,este paine de sarbatoare, diferita de cea de zi de zi, in componenta careia intra zahar , lapte si oua in general.
Exista ceea ce se numeste Challa metuca( hala dulce ) si termenul se refera in general la cea impletita ,care are zahar in aluat neaparat si uneori este unsa deasupra cu un sirop cu zahar, nu iese cozonac ci e pur si simplu dulceaga.

Si este Challa cu oua si lapte si mai putin zahar facuta intr-o tava patratoasa ca de cozonac si iese un dreptunghi de paine ( si asta e uneori impletita , dar fiind in tava ia forma patratoasa a tavii).

Challa se face intotdeuan cate doua, se pun pe masa mereu doua , se acopera cu servet mereu si isi are locul ei in binecuvantarea mesei,paine in general se binecuvanteaza prima ,la masa de Shabat Challa este binecuvantata a doua dupa vin.
